About

Jenny is from Nottingham, studied medieval history at St Andrews, and joined ANA as assistant to Andrew Nurnberg in 2002, after several years in the theatre.

She initiated and built the agency's children's list, added adult fiction to her roster in 2012, and is known for building award-winning writing careers across both children's and adult books. She led ANA as managing director between 2022 and 2025, following the retirement of founder Andrew Nurnberg, and is a longstanding visiting speaker at universities and literary festivals across the United Kingdom.

Agency submission guidelines

Submissions are by email only, to submissions@nurnberg.co.uk, addressed to a specific agent and named in the subject line. The agency represents fiction and non-fiction for adults and children, welcomes writers of all backgrounds and charges no reading fee. What to send: a covering letter in the body of the email, a one page synopsis and the first three chapters or fifty pages as attachments. For non-fiction, send an overview, chapter outlines and three sample chapters. Worth knowing: children's picture books and scripts for film, TV, radio or theatre are not represented. If you have not heard back after three months, assume the submission has been unsuccessful; the agency cannot enter into correspondence about submissions.
