Submission guidelines

Fiction: the agency is particularly interested in literary and speculative fiction of all types, especially where the two overlap, but is interested in all adult and young adult fiction; children's fiction below Young Adult is not represented. Send a short covering email, and attach a one-page synopsis as well as the first three chapters or 7,500 words of the manuscript, to submissions@appletreeliterary.com and not to any individual email address. Non-fiction: the agency represents non-fiction authors across academics, journalists, memoirists, experts and high-profile names, and is particularly keen to hear from those telling untold or unknown stories, and experts writing about fascinating new ways of understanding the world. Send a covering email outlining the book, why it has a place on the bookshelf and why the writer is qualified to write it. If a proposal or a sample chapter, or the whole work if completed, is available, include these alongside the query as an attachment. Send to submissions@appletreeliterary.com and not to any individual email address. TV/film scripts and poetry are not represented.

  Max founded Apple Tree Literary in 2024 and represents a diverse range of authors writing non-fiction and fiction. He has a decade of experience in agenting, having worked at RCW, United Agents and David Higham Associates before becoming a founding agent at Aevitas Creative Management UK. He was named a Bookseller Rising Star in 2021. He represents literary and speculative fiction as well as serious and narrative non-fiction.
