About

Becky founded the Lindsay Literary Agency in 2008, naming it after her maiden name.

She has worked in publishing for over 25 years, starting her career at Trinity College Dublin reading manuscripts for the Lilliput Press. She later moved to Macmillan in London as a commissioning editor, working alongside authors such as Max Hastings, Robert Service and John Simpson.

Agency submission guidelines

Submissions are accepted by email only; postal submissions are no longer accepted. What to send (fiction): the first three chapters of the story together with a single-page synopsis (up to a full page/500 words), both double-spaced. The synopsis may include spoilers. These should be attached as two separate Word documents. Covering letter: include in the body of the email a little about the author, a brief pitch (2-3 sentences) on the story (mentioning main characters, setting and key ingredient), and ideally a comparison title in an 'X meets Y' format. Picture books: send the covering letter as above together with the complete story saved in a Word document. No synopsis is needed and illustrations are not required to submit a picture book text. As a guide, picture book texts should be between 300-750 words, and up to three texts may be attached in separate documents. Illustrators: send pdf examples in as small a file size as possible together with a link to any work available online. No reading fee is charged. If submitting to other agents at the same time, this should be made clear in the submission letter.
