For prose works, include a covering letter in the body of the email, and attach the first fifty pages of the work as a writing sample, plus a synopsis (for fiction) as Word or PDF documents, with total file size not exceeding 2MB. For prose non-fiction, a proposal (pitch and outline) should take the place of a synopsis. For graphic novels, the sample should be 20 pages of completed panels.
