Submission guidelines

Unsolicited fiction manuscripts are not accepted online; the agency reopens for fiction submissions at specific intervals throughout the year, with the submission windows and the types of material sought announced on social media and on the submissions page. For non-fiction, one-page proposals are accepted by email to submissions@blackandwhitepublishing.com. Proposals are considered only in the following genres: celebrity memoirs, sports books (with a particular focus on the UK and Ireland), lifestyle, humour, gift and activity books, food and drink titles, Scottish non-fiction, Irish non-fiction, and nature and wild places writing; titles outside these areas are not considered. Work written in languages other than English is not published. A proposal should include information about the writer and their background, and a summary of what the proposed book will cover, kept to one side of A4. Proposals should not be sent by post, as postal submissions will not be considered and cannot be returned. Fiction or non-fiction submissions from literary agents are still accepted, sent as usual by email to submissions@blackandwhitepublishing.com.
