Submission guidelines

Submissions are open only during the specific windows below. No unsolicited submissions are accepted outside these windows. Submissions should be sent to submissions@brokensleepbooks.com.Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but indicate this in the email. Submissions are considered regardless of location, and collaborative submissions are considered. • 1 January-28 February for wildcard books (any genre and length) • 1 April-31 May for poetry collections (40+ pages) • 1 July-31 August for non-fiction prose pamphlets (up to 150 pages) • 1 October-30 November for poetry pamphlets (up to 40 pages) Page lengths: poetry collections 40+ pages, poetry pamphlets 15-40 pages, non-fiction prose 40-150 pages (send a sample of 40-70 pages). Enquire if outside these lengths. Format: send as a Word document or PDF. Do not put work in the body of the email or send.pages files, links to websites or file transfer sites, as these will be deleted. Use size 10 font for main text. Email content: include a short biography and brief synopsis in the body of the email. Mention a Broken Sleep Books title read and enjoyed, if applicable. For poetry, list any poetic influences or poets admired. Subject line format: [Poetry pamphlet/Poetry collection/Non-fiction/Wildcard] Submission - [Name], [Title]. Previously published work within a manuscript is acceptable but should preferably not exceed 50% of the full manuscript. Translations are considered, noting that facing-page format is used, requiring both the original language and the translated language. There is no charge to submit.
