Submission guidelines
The agency is open to submissions and is not looking for any particular genre; it publishes a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, including biographies, memoirs, history, thrillers, sagas and westerns. No advance against royalties is paid, and no payment is sought from authors to publish their work. What to send: a synopsis of the work, including any information about potential reader interest; at least the first three chapters, 20 pages or 5,000 words (the complete manuscript may also be sent if written); a brief biography, including social media handles that could help market the book. Word count: the finished manuscript should typically be between 70,000 and 110,000 words. Writers whose work falls, or is likely to fall, wildly outside this range should make contact before submission. Drafting rules: the submission should be the writer's best draft, checked with grammar and spellchecking tools before submission. Manuscripts with too many basic errors will not be reviewed. Manuscripts should be written in British or US English. Formatting: manuscripts should not be typeset or given complex manual formatting. Formatting should be consistent throughout. Page numbers, bold and italics are fine if auto-formatted in the header or footer. No extra lines should be added between paragraphs, except for new sections, where *** or a motif is recommended. There should be no returns at the end of lines, unless inserting a paragraph. Page breaks should be inserted as page breaks, not multiple returns. Indents should not be added, as these will be added during layout. All manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word; no other format, including PDFs and hard copies, will be accepted. Non-fiction works needing an index should have index marks inserted before submission. Failure to format the manuscript as specified will probably result in it not being considered. Images: writers must ensure they hold the relevant rights to any images used, or be prepared to obtain them. Each image must be submitted as an individual file in JPG or PNG format, in the highest possible resolution, and edited so it is ready to use. Photographs of scrapbooks, old-style photo albums or book pages will not be accepted.
