Submission guidelines

Due to a high volume of submissions Eye Books and Lightning Books are not be accepting any received after 12 August 2026. Email dan.roberts@eye-books.com with the word SUBMISSION in capitals at the start of the subject line, followed by the writer's name and book title. The body of the email can be left empty. The submission should be a single Word document (not a PDF) attached to the email, titled with the writer's name and the book title. All required elements must be contained within this one document. The agency publishes most genres and styles but does not publish children's picture books, poetry or academic texts. For fiction: include a pitch of no more than 250 words covering the author and a sell of the book (what sort of book it is and who it's aimed at); a synopsis of the book's plot, kept succinct, of no more than 500 words; and sample chapters consisting of the first three chapters of the novel or up to 10,000 words. For non-fiction: include a pitch of no more than 250 words covering the author and a sell of the book (what sort of book it is and who it's aimed at); a chapter plan listing each chapter with a short summarising paragraph beneath each heading; and three sample chapters or up to 10,000 words. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines may be rejected without being read.
