Submission guidelines
Merlin Unwin Books accepts unsolicited submissions, focusing on countryside non-fiction such as natural history, herbalism, foraging and countryside sports. Children's books are not published. What helps: it is an advantage, though not essential, to show published work in magazines, websites or other online publications relevant to the subject area, or a strong local following or interest from an organisation. How to send: submissions should be emailed, with the subject line including the word MANUSCRIPT. What to include: name, email address and contact telephone number, a brief outline of the work, the word count, two or three sample chapters (if available) in a Word document, and a list of contents. Postal option: if email is not possible, proposals may be posted to The Editor, Merlin Unwin Books Ltd, 6 Rural Enterprise Centre, Eco Park Road, Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 1FF. An SAE should be included if the manuscript is to be returned, and the publisher can be called on 01584 877456 to expect it by post.
