Submission guidelines

Submissions are made via the online system Submittable, at https://harlequin.submittable.com/submit, where writers select which series they are submitting to. A literary agent is not required. What to send: a covering letter outlining pertinent facts about the writer, including familiarity with the romance genre and previous publishing experience. Also the synopsis and the first three chapters of the book, uploaded as two separate Word documents. Synopsis: should give a clear idea of both plot and characters. Length should be between three and five pages. Formatting: the manuscript should be double spaced. Pages should be numbered sequentially. The writer's name and the title should be typed in the upper left-hand corner of each page. Originality and exclusivity: all material must be the writer's own original work. Material that bears a striking resemblance to previously published work is not acceptable. Material being considered by another publisher should not be sent. Multiple or duplicated submissions are not acceptable. Queries about a submission can be sent by email to submissions@harlequin.com.
