Submission guidelines

Submissions are accepted for Mills & Boon category romance and fiction, made via the online system Submittable, with separate guidelines for each series available there. What to send: a covering letter outlining pertinent facts about the writer, including familiarity with the romance genre and previous publishing experience. A synopsis (three to five pages, giving a clear idea of plot and characters) and the first three chapters, uploaded as two separate Word documents. Formatting: manuscripts should be double spaced, with each page numbered sequentially and the writer's name and title typed in the upper left-hand corner of each page. Where to send: submit via https://harlequin.submittable.com/submit, selecting the relevant series, and read the instructions on that page carefully. Queries can be directed to submissions@harlequin.com. Key rules: a literary agent is not required to submit. All material must be the writer's own original work; material resembling previously published work is not acceptable. Do not submit material under consideration elsewhere, and multiple or duplicated submissions are not acceptable. Discussions about payment occur only once a contract is offered.
