Submission guidelines
Pen and Sword Books is no longer accepting fiction proposals. Non-fiction proposals are considered via an online submission form. What to send: a synopsis of 400-500 words (in the style of cover or dust-jacket text), including sample chapter listings if available, plus book title, estimated final word count, total number of photographs, genre, proposal stage (finished, partially written, or ideas stage), an explanation of what is new or different about the book, and details of the writer's qualifications to write it. Background: authors need not have been previously published, but relevant professional writing experience should be mentioned. What is sought: a good depth of knowledge and passion for the subject area, a clear accessible writing style, understanding of the market and existing titles, and willingness to help market the book via blogging, social media and traditional media. Every proposal is reviewed, though due to high volume of submissions, replies to unsuccessful proposals and manuscript critiques cannot always be provided.
