Submission guidelines

Book proposals should typically be 4-5 pages of A4 as a guideline. What to include: a working title indicating the focus and content of the book; a concise one-page synopsis of themes and scope; an outline arranged under chapter headings in continuous prose, with each chapter needing no more than a paragraph or two; details of illustrations if the book will be illustrated, including number and type, with photocopies supplied if possible; a CV covering professional background, current position, relevant experience and previous publications; an outline of the proposed market, pitching level and likely readership, including any courses where the book might be used (thinking need not be restricted to the UK, as the publisher aims to market books overseas); information about competing works in the same field or how the book differs from these; and a realistic date by which a finished typescript could be delivered.
