Submission guidelines

Book proposals are considered when submitted as a Word document, typically 4-5 pages of A4 (this is only a guideline). What to send: a working title; a one-page synopsis outlining themes and scope; a chapter-by-chapter outline written in continuous prose (a paragraph or two per chapter); details of proposed illustrations (number and type, with photocopies if possible); a CV covering professional background, relevant experience and previous publications; an outline of the proposed market, pitching level and readership (including possible course use, as marketing is aimed internationally, not just the UK); information on competing titles and how the proposed book differs; and a realistic date for delivery of the finished typescript. Format: submissions should be in Microsoft Word format. How to submit: proposals can be sent by post to Submissions Dept, Reaktion Books Ltd, 2-4 Sebastian St, London EC1V 0HE, UK, or by email (Word doc format) to info@reaktionbooks.co.uk. Returns: a stamped self-addressed envelope should be enclosed if return of unsuccessful submitted material is wanted.
