**As of May 2026 Summersdale are pausing submissions for travel, memoir and general interest narrative non-fiction for one year.** Summersdale accepts submissions for gift, humour, general interest and health & well-being, and for children's mental health and well-being. Fiction and poetry are not accepted, and unfinished books are not commissioned unless the writer is an established author. As of May 2026, submissions for travel, memoir and general interest narrative non-fiction are paused for one year. What to send: a covering letter within the body of the email (no separate document needed) giving an immediate idea of the book, the author and why it should be published. Also include, as a single Word (.doc) file attachment: a synopsis explaining the aims and scope of the project with an overview of the content; an indication of the intended audience and details of competing titles and how the work differs; an author bio with platform information (social media, blog followers, public speaking experience) and promotional ideas; and the first two chapters (or an equivalent amount of sample material from the start of the book). Formatting: put the title of the submission in the email subject line and in the file names of attachments. Do not send a PDF or embed material within the email. Hard copy submissions are not accepted. Where to send: Health, well-being and parenting to vie@summersdale.com. Children's mental health and well-being to CMH@summersdale.com. Gift, humour, general interest or anything else to submissions@summersdale.com.
