Submission guidelines
Sweet Cherry Publishing is no longer taking submissions. Writers are encouraged to sign up to their newsletter for updates on their Submission Week schedule. The agency accepts email submissions for picture and board books, chapter books, middle-grade fiction, and young adult fiction, sent to submissions@sweetcherrypublishing.com. What to send: in the body of the email, include a cover letter and biographical information. As attachments, include the first three chapters of the manuscript (approximately 5,000 words), or the full manuscript for a picture book, plus a one-page synopsis. Cover letter: state the genre and target age range, give a short elevator pitch, explain the story's motivation and market potential, provide brief biographical information, and state whether the submission is for the Sweet Cherry or Clock Tower imprint. Synopsis: should be no longer than one page, approximately 400-500 words, covering the story's arcs, characters, themes and conflicts, including the ending.
