Toby is CEO of ACM UK, a literary agent representing narrative non-fiction.
Before becoming an agent, he founded Atlantic Books, serving as chief executive and publisher from 2000 to 2014, where he published many bestselling and prize-winning titles. Since 2014, he has served as director of the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction, Britain's leading non-fiction literary prize. He was previously a non-executive director of Prospect Publishing Limited for ten years, also serving as a contributing editor and editorial board member.

Agency submission guidelines
Submissions are made via an online submission form (Query Manager), not by post or phone. What to send: a one-sentence summary of the book or manuscript, the category (fiction, nonfiction subject areas, children's/middle grade/young adult, or poetry), comparable titles, referral information, the book's title, and the first 50 pages of the manuscript. Rules: do not submit to more than one agent at the agency simultaneously; such submissions will be automatically disregarded. Exclusions: original screenplays and screenwriters are not represented. Hardcopy submissions or queries by mail or phone are not accepted and will not receive a response.
