Submission guidelines

Submissions may be sent by post or electronically. What to send: a short synopsis of the work. For fiction, the first three chapters (excluding any prologues). For picture books, the full manuscript. A covering letter giving full contact details, including an email address, and further background information. Postal submissions: include a stamped self-addressed envelope. Material will not be returned if one is not included. If the writer has only a postal address and no email, a reply will only be sent if a SAE is included. Postal submissions should be sent to the address given on the site. Electronic submissions: send to john.mclay@btinternet.com.

  Gill is a literary agent at Bath Literary Agency with over two decades of experience in publishing. She has worked with independent publisher Barefoot Books and global publisher Egmont, giving her a strong understanding of sales, marketing and commercial roles across the industry. Gill co-founded the Bath Festival of Children's Literature and now runs Events of Wonder with her husband, John McLay. Gill works closely with writers of poetry, picture books, young fiction, middle grade fiction, young adult fiction and non-fiction, as well as author/illustrators.
