About
Emma founded Children's Books North Agency in 2024 and represents authors and illustrators of picture books, fiction and non-fiction.
She has 25 years of children's publishing experience, including a role at Hachette Children's Group as Group Picture Book Publisher, where she commissioned and launched several successful series. She is co-founder of Children's Books North Network and mentors with the AOI, Children's Books North Network and SYP North.

Agency submission guidelines
The agency accepts submissions via email only, for the children's market only, from creatives currently based in the North of England (North West, North East, Yorkshire) or Scotland. Submissions must be original work and not generated using AI, including covering letters and synopses. Only one submission may be made at a time. Submissions and enquiries go to submissions@childrensbooksnorthagency.co.uk. Authors: send a synopsis as a Word doc, the full manuscript as a separate Word doc (or up to 3 full manuscripts for picture books), a short bio and location. Illustrators: send a PDF of work attached to the email (not via WeTransfer), links to social media channels and website, a short bio and location. Author-illustrators: send a synopsis as a Word doc, the full manuscript as a separate Word doc or a dummy book as a PDF, a PDF of illustration work, links to social media and website, a short bio and location.
