Dorie is a literary agent who represents general nonfiction, commercial fiction and children's books.

She has worked in the publishing industry on both sides of the Atlantic, including within publishing houses, and is herself a published author. Dorie studied at Vassar College and The London School of Economics, and worked at William Morrow & Company and Dell Publishing in the US, as well as Dorling Kindersley and Reed Children's in the UK, before opening her own agency.

Agency submission guidelines

Submissions are accepted by email only, to info@doriesimmonds.com. Fiction: send the first chapter or first twenty pages of the novel, whichever is less, along with a full synopsis and a covering letter, with a brief CV of the writer's career if appropriate. Do not submit a full-length manuscript unless requested. Non-fiction: send a detailed proposal, alongside a covering letter and CV. At the time of submission, disclose if the manuscript or proposal is under consideration by other agents or publishers anywhere in the world.
