Looking for

  • stories that explore our recent history or show us something about our world, whether through fiction or research and reportage
  • a love story that's a little bit cool, whether that's a rom-com, something more sweeping, or a story that's as much about friendship as it is romance
  • love stories of all kinds (including romantasy where the world building matches that pull of 'will-they-or-won't-they,' star-crossed lovers, and opposites attract)
  • stories with characters you actually want to be friends with, characters coming into their own, discovering something new about themselves and their world, who come through something in their lives and out the other side
  • strong women's fiction with characters navigating the complexities, phases, and changes in their lives (romantic and other relationships included) and the non-linearity of life
  • narrative and inspirational non-fiction on behalf of some US-based clients
  • commercial to upmarket fiction that tackle universal themes of love, loss, friendship, romance, and family

Agency submission guidelines

The covering letter should be in the body of the email, with submission materials as attachments; the letter should include a brief pitch for the book plus relevant information about the writer, their inspiration and writing background if applicable. Fiction: send the first three chapters (or about fifty pages) alongside a one or two page synopsis that reveals the ending; only submit once a full draft is complete. Non-fiction: send three sample chapters (or about fifty pages) alongside a summary of proposed chapters or a synopsis; it is not essential that the work is completed before submitting. The letter should explain why the subject matters to the writer, why they are best placed to write it, and the intended readership. Submissions should be sent to submissions@greeneheaton.co.uk, with the preferred agent's name in the subject line if possible; if unsure, address the Submissions Team. Attachments should be Word Documents rather than PDFs. Postal submissions are not accepted.

Agency AI policy

Submissions must be the original work of the author; submissions originated, written or edited using Artificial Intelligence (AI) will not be accepted. This includes the use of AI in your cover letter, synopsis and proposal, as well as the manuscript.
