Anne spent over fifteen years as a commissioning editor before joining Kate Hordern Literary Agency. She worked at Michael Joseph and then for thirteen years at Headline, where she was Co-Publisher of the Review imprint and Publisher of the main Headline imprint. She commissioned bestselling authors including Sheila O'Flanagan and Lyn Andrews, and prize-winning crime writers such as Barbara Nadel, Manda Scott and Caroline Graham. Anne joined Kate Hordern Literary Agency in 2009.

Kate founded Kate Hordern Literary Agency in 1999, representing fiction and non-fiction. She spent fourteen years at Victor Gollancz in London, selling foreign rights. She later relocated to Bristol before setting up her own agency.
