Submission guidelines
Send a Word document of the full manuscript together with a one-page synopsis and covering email to submissions@skylark-literary.com. Submissions by email only. The agency is open to submissions for children's fiction ranging from chapter books for emerging readers (aged 5+) up to young adult/crossover titles; picture books are not currently represented. The covering email should include a paragraph or two about the author's background, whether it is a first novel or the writer has been published before, the intended age group, comparable titles on the market, a brief pitch of the plot, and whether the book is a stand-alone or intended as part of a series. Writers may note in the covering email if they feel the book is particularly suited to either Joanna or Amber, otherwise submissions are read and shared with a view to each agent's tastes.
