Agency submission guidelines

Submissions are accepted by email only, sent to submissions@susanyearwoodagency.com. The agency is looking for commercial fiction including romance and saga, crime/thriller, book club fiction, children's novels aged 9+ to young adult, and non-fiction, particularly business and finance, self-help and well-being, and lifestyle including cookery. Sci-fi, short stories and poetry are not read. Subject line: include the writer's name and the submission title/genre, for example 'Joe Bloggs, The Title (Book Club fiction)'. What to send: attach the first 30 pages from the novel or non-fiction title. Send a synopsis/outline as a separate attachment, indicating in the document title which is the synopsis/outline and which is the chapters. Include a cover email with a pitch sentence and a brief paragraph describing the submission. Mention any comparative writers published over the last three years and describe the writing career so far, if any. Include a paragraph about why the book was written, with relevant personal anecdotes. Formatting: the Word or PDF attachment should be 1.5 or double spaced with page numbers. Other rules: indicate if submitting to other agents simultaneously. If writing fiction and non-fiction, or adult and children's fiction, mention this on submission.
