About

Antony is a literary agent and founder of Antony Harwood Ltd. He began his career at Chatto & Windus, working across production and publicity before becoming a commissioning editor, where he worked with authors including Angela Carter, Hilary Mantel and Iris Murdoch.

He became a literary agent in 1985 and was a director at Wylie, Aitken & Stone and Curtis Brown before setting up his own agency in 2000.

Submissions of fiction and non-fiction are welcomed in most genres and categories, for adults and all younger age groups. Send a brief outline of the work and the opening three chapters (10,000 words or so) by email to mail@antonyharwood.com. For fiction, if the author is unpublished, it is best to get in touch when the manuscript is completed. Submissions are not accepted by post, from authors based outside the UK, for plays, screenplays, poetry or 'self-help' non-fiction, or for picture books for children.
