Sophie runs Sophie Hicks Agency, representing adult and children's authors across fiction and non-fiction.
She spent 25 years at Ed Victor Ltd, starting in foreign rights before building her own list and becoming Managing Director in 1999. She founded her own agency in 2014. Her authors have won prizes including the Costa Book Award and Carnegie Medal, and have sold tens of millions of copies worldwide.

- writing that feels fresh, surprising, and above all, must sing off the page
- a domestic thriller or clever drama with a twist she really doesn't see coming, writing that completely engages and great characters she really cares about
- clever, accessible non-fiction that looks at everyday life in a new light
- children's books for ages 9+
- a new young adult writer telling a great story in a different, original way

Agency submission guidelines
All submissions must be sent electronically with your covering letter in the body of your email and your sample pages attached as a Word or PDF document. Submit only to one agent. To submit to Sophie Hicks, email hicksoffice@sophiehicksagency.com; to submit to Sarah Williams, email williamsoffice@sophiehicksagency.com. The agency is not currently accepting illustrated books for children, and does not represent poetry or scripts for theatre, film and television. Fiction submissions should include a synopsis, the first three chapters (or approximately 50 pages). Non-fiction submissions should provide a detailed outline and at least one sample chapter of material.
