Sam is a director at RCW Literary Agency, representing writers of literary and commercial fiction across a wide range of genres.

He worked as a bookseller for several years before moving into publishing in 2001. He joined RCW in 2006 and became a director in 2016. He is also a published children's author.

Agency submission guidelines

Submissions should include a covering letter telling the agency about the author and the background to the book. Attachments in either Word or PDF formats are acceptable, otherwise sample chapters or proposals can be pasted into the body of the submission email. Submissions must be the original work of the author and not generated or co-written using artificial intelligence. Please submit to one agent only via their literary agent page; postal submissions are not accepted. RCW does not represent scripts for theatre, film or television. Fiction: the first three chapters or approximately the first fifty pages of the work to a natural break, and a brief synopsis. Non-fiction: a proposal up to twenty pages in length explaining what the work is about and why you are best placed to write it.
